Namoya open-pit gold mine is located in the Maniema Province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The mine is situated at the southwestern end of the 210km-long Twangiza-Namoya gold belt and owned by Banro Corporation (Banro). Most of the mineralisation is contained in fine-grained sericite schists. It is structurally controlled by a northwest-southeast trending shear zone, which contains quartz, calcite, chlorite, and albite.

The Kosaka mine is a productive Cu-Pb-Zn-Au-Ag mine in Japan and is located at the eastern margin of the Hokuroku mining district in northeast Honshu Island. The ore deposits of the mine are divided into three main groups from north to south, namely, the Motoyama, Uchinotai, and Uwamuki ore deposits. Each ore deposit has both massive stratiform and underlying network or disseminated, siliceous orebodies.

Metamorphic Zone is an expression borrowed from geology that describes the transformative process of extreme

heat, pressure or impact where rock is formed and re-formed.

considering the current  planetary crisis, we ask the question:

what is our metamorphic process?

how much heat and pressure do we need

to re-form?

Are we softer or harder than rock?

the project is exploring the metamorphic process of geology, the human impact on nature and the effect our environment has on the human psyche, therefore the mine will be our meeting place.

The series of garments released under the project carry names of mines from different locations

around the world. We explore the segments of stratas and experiment with earth-based patina through nature burials as well as examininig  a pigment-palette of the  mining landscape.
